CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Friday on charges he stalked a woman and broke into her house with a gun.
Terrence Allen Adams, 34, is charged with first-degree burglary, stalking, going armed with intent, possession of a firearm by a domestic abuse offender, assault while participating in a felony, use of a dangerous weapon in commission of a crime, first-degree harassment, domestic abuse assault and carrying a weapon while intoxicated.
According to a criminal complaint, Adams had been stalking a woman with whom he shares a child. She told police Adams had told her he used a device to track her car.
On Friday, Adams showed up at her home and banged on the doors before breaking in, the complaint shows. He threatened to kill another man in the home, who told police that Adams assaulted him and pointed “an object” at him while he was in the bathroom, according to the complaint.
The woman attempted to intervene during the assault and Adams “caused a cut” to her “that caused bleeding to her knuckle,” the complaint states.
Police later found a Glock 19X in the bathroom, which matched a gun box in the car that Adams drove to the residence. Police said they arrived at the scene while Adams was still there and reported he was under the influence of alcohol.
Adams was arrested Friday and had his first appearance in court over the weekend. He is being held on a cash-only, $200,000 bail.
