Cedar Rapids man charged with shooting at other man

CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man was arrested last weekend on charges he shot at another man Friday at a residence in Cedar Rapids.

Charles Russell Wheeler, 52, is charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, carrying a weapon while intoxicated and reckless use of a firearm.

According to a criminal complaint, Wheeler threatened another man with a handgun Friday at 1304 First Ave. NW. As the other man was backing away, Wheeler pointed the gun at him and fired one round. The complaint does not say if the man was injured.

Wheeler was arrested Saturday and was being held at the Linn County Jail on a cash-only $7,000 bail.
