Cedar Rapids man charged with sexually abusing woman

CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Wednesday on a warrant after police say he sexually assaulted a woman in July.

Ruben Spencer Ginger, 51, is charged with third-degree sexual abuse and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse.

According to a criminal complaint, a woman reported that Ginger sexually assaulted her at a house in Cedar Rapids on July 10, and other witnesses were able to corroborate parts of her story, like the time and place, Ginger’s opportunity to commit the assault and his demeanor and actions around the time of the assault.

A warrant was issued for Ginger’s arrest on Monday and he was taken into custody Wednesday. He’s being held on a $20,000 bond at the Linn County Jail.
