CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Thursday on charges that he sexually abused a 5-year-old child.
David Hamilton, 67, is charged with second-degree sexual abuse and indecent contact with a child. According to a criminal complaint, the abuse happened between June 2024 and April 2025 when he used to babysit while the child’s parents were at work.
The child reported the abuse to her mother as well as to a therapist and a forensic interviewer at the Child Protection Center in Hiawatha.
A warrant was issued for Hamilton’s arrest on Aug. 20, and he was booked into the Linn County Jail on Thursday. He had his first appearance in court Friday and is being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond. A no-contact order has been filed on behalf of the child.
