CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man has been arrested in connection to a Sunday shooting that left another man with critical injuries.
Thomas J. Vesey III, 49, was arrested Tuesday on charges of attempted murder, willful injury resulting in serious injury and being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to a press release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
The arrest is in relation to a Sunday incident in which officers were called to the 300 block of 30th St. Dr. SE shortly after 4 a.m. following multiple reports of shots fired in the area.
There, officers found a man with “multiple wounds” outside a nearby residence, and he was taken to an area hospital for medical care. His injuries were considered critical at the time, although no condition update was immediately available Wednesday morning.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and that there is no additional information being released at this time.
