CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Sunday night on charges that he threatened a woman with a knife after police responded to reports of a shooting.
Joe Exson-Grigler, 35, is charged with assault with a weapon and first-degree harassment. According to a criminal complaint, he approached a woman Sunday in southwest Cedar Rapids while displaying a pocket knife and threatened to kill her.
The threat happened at 2000 Wiley Boulevard SW --- the same area that police were called to at 8:52 p.m. Sunday for reports of shots fired, according to a news release from the police department.
At the scene, police found a 32-year-old woman, who was taken to a hospital to receive care for a non-life-threatening wound. The release does not say what caused the injuries.
The release also states police found a 35-year-old man who had been hit by gunfire, who a spokesperson for the police department confirmed was Exson-Grigler.
Exson-Grigler was ordered held on a $3,000 bail and a no-contact order was entered to protect the victim. He was being held in the Linn County Jail.
