CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Tuesday in connection to a shooting Sunday in which about 24 rounds were fired at a Cedar Rapids apartment building.
Lucas Frank Floyd, 28, is charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit a forcible felony, felon in possession of a firearm and going armed with intent.
The shooting happened at 500 17th St. SE. Police found several bullets inside the building and apartments, including a slug found in a baby’s crib, according to a criminal complaint.
Floyd was identified as a suspect, and he was seen jumping out of a two-story building Monday at 256 32nd St. NW with a bag that contained a Glock 10 mm handgun and an empty extended magazine capable of high-capacity discharge, the complaint states.
Floyd told police in an interview that he possessed the handgun and that he drove in a vehicle matching the description of one seen at the scene of the shooting, with the intent to shoot at the building.
He said he handed the gun to another male to shoot, but police believe there were only two people in the vehicle, a female driver and a male passenger, according to the complaint.
Floyd had his initial appearance in court Tuesday and is being held on a $10,000 cash-only bond.
