Cedar Rapids man accused of stealing tools from construction site

CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Saturday on theft and burglary charges after police said he attempted to steal tools from a construction site to sell.
Police found Brian Mell, 50, when they performed a check of a construction site at 615 G Ave. NW, according to a criminal complaint. Mell had loaded about $20,000 worth of tools into a trailer and admitted he had planned to sell them, police said.
First-degree theft is a Class C felony, and third-degree burglary is a Class D felony.
