A 42-year-old Cedar Rapids man is being held in the Linn County Jail on allegations he sexually abused a child under age 12 between Oct. 15, 2017 and April 11, 2018.
Wayne Patrick Gibson was arrested Friday and faces charges of second- and third-degree rape for sexually abusing a minor child 'by engaging in various sex acts and touching” at 2050 Glass Road NE, according to an arrest report.
'The defendant also engaged in various sex acts and touching when the minor child … was 12 or 13 years old,” the report states.
Gibson is being held in lieu of a $65,000 bond. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 5. His home address is different from the address listed as the scene of the crime.
Gibson has a long list of criminal violations in Iowa, according to online records. That list includes at least nine felony cases between 1996 and today involving attempted murder, drugs, robbery, parole and firearm violations.
In 1996, he was sentenced to two years in prison for the attempted murder charge.
Some of his many aggravated misdemeanor charges relate to driving violations, theft, assault with a deadly weapon, and drugs, according to online court records.
