A driver faces a drunken driving charge after authorities said his vehicle collided head-on Friday with a compact sport utility vehicle, injuring its driver and a passenger.
The crash happened outside 223 E. Post Rd., south of Indian Creek, near Cedar Rapids, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
Uriah Johnson, 28, of Cedar Rapids, was driving a silver Lincoln MKZ north on E. Post Road when it crossed the centerline and collided with a southbound black Toyota RAV4 driven by Tonya Street, 47, of Marion, sheriff’s authorities said.
Street and a passenger were transported to Mercy Medical Center with what officials described as non-life threatening injuries. Johnson, too, was injured in the crash and was taken to UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital with what also were described as non-life threatening injuries.
Uriah was charged with operating while intoxicated and was cited for improper use of lanes, the sheriff’s office said.
The crash remained under investigation.
