Authorities rescued a 12-year-old boy from the rising Wapsipinicon River Wednesday night.
Around 3:30 p.m., the Linn County Sheriff's Office rushed to Sutton Road, about a quarter mile south of Seven Hills Road, northwest of Central City. Apparently, the boy waded into the river, but couldn't return to shore.
Authorities deployed a boat and managed to rescue him from the swift current. The boy wasn't hurt.
Authorities stressed that parents need to remind kids flooded roads and rivers are not playgrounds.
