Bicyclist dies from injuries after collision with vehicle in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS - A bicyclist who was transported to the hospital after a collision with a car Friday night has died.
Emergency responders were called to the intersection of Collins Road and Twixt Towne Road NE where 28-year-old Christopher Scott Lewis, of Marion, was riding his bicycle, according to a media release form Cedar Rapids police. At 6:01 p.m. Friday, Lewis was struck by a 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada, driven by 29-year-old Eric M. Wicks, also of Marion.
Wicks was heading west on Collins Road when he collided with Lewis, who was riding north across Collins Road at the intersection. The bicycle had a red light and no crossing light while the Bravada had a green light, according to the release.
Wicks was charged with failure to provide proof of financial liability, meaning no insurance, but no other traffic charges.
