Apparel 1 screen printer catches fire Monday morning

The front office area of Apparel 1 screen printer, 2510 16th Avenue SW, caught fire early Monday morning but was extinguished soon after Cedar Rapids Fire Department arrived.
According to a news release, employees noticed smoke when entering the exterior door to the front office area and immediately called 911.
Upon arrival at around 7 a.m., Cedar Rapids Fire Department found the smoke was migrating throughout the store. Further investigation revealed small amount of fire above the suspended ceiling.
According to the news release, CRFD personnel deployed hoselines, quickly knocking down the fire. Ventilation was used to remove products of combustion to 'allow for full extinguishment.”
Two people were present at the time of the fire but no injuries were reported. According to the release, the fire caused modest damage to the front office area and sent smoke to several areas of the business.
