CEDAR RAPIDS — A Marion woman and a Marion teen were arrested this week on charges that they broke into a Cedar Rapids apartment, and the teen stabbed an occupant in the chest.
Makaylee Dwyer, 24, and Katelyn Hauser, 16, are charged with first-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit a forcible felony. Dwyer also is charged with general assault, and Hauser also is charged with going armed with intent, willful injury resulting in bodily injury and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
According to criminal complaints, Hauser and Dwyer went to an apartment Thursday in the 4000 block of Rushmore Drive NE and entered without permission.
They had been communicating with a person inside the apartment before they arrived, telling her they wanted to fight her. They assaulted the person they’d been talking to by punching her, and then Hauser stabbed her in the chest with a kitchen knife Hauser had brought from home. The complaint states that the knife caused a “deep laceration.”
Hauser had sent Dwyer a voice message before the burglary in which she said she was going to kill someone. She also reportedly slashed the tires on a vehicle belonging to a person who was in the apartment, the complaints state.
Dwyer and Hauser both had their first appearances in court Friday. Hauser is being held on a $15,000 bond, and Dwyer is being held on a $10,000 bond.
