A pedestrian struck by a vehicle Friday on Hwy. 100 dies from his injuries
Police say he was intentionally in the roadway

CEDAR RAPIDS — A man who was hit by a vehicle Friday on Highway 100, near Interstate 380, died as the result of his injuries, Cedar Rapids police said in a news release Monday.
Jason Michael Lafler, 26, of Cedar Rapids, was found injured along the roadway on the westbound side of Highway 100, according to the police department.
Based on its preliminary investigation, the police department said its accident reconstruction specialists determined Lafler was intentionally in the roadway.
Police said officers were dispatched to the area just after 11:30 p.m. June 18 for reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
Lafler was transported to UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
The driver of the vehicle was Christopher Lee Christensen, 37, of Cedar Rapids. Police said he was driving a 2003 Ford Fusion.
Christensen and a passenger were transported to UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They were treated and released.
Police said no charges are pending in this incident.
