CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Sunday on charges of domestic abuse after a four-hour standoff with police officers, according to the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
Jeremy Davis, 42, is charged with domestic assault with a weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of interference with official acts with a weapon.
Police were called the intersection of First Avenue W and 13th Street at 10:06 a.m. Sunday for a report of an individual acting erratically. The individual, later identified as Davis, made violent threats as officers approached, and then retreated into his home in the 1300 block of Burch Avenue NW, according to a police press release and a criminal complaint.
A four-hour standoff ensued between police outside the house and Davis inside, which eventually was resolved peacefully and Davis was taken into custody, the release states.
According to the complaint, a woman with whom Davis resides reported that before police arrived, Davis assaulted her and threatened her with a knife.
A no-contact order has been filed on behalf of the woman. Davis had his first appearance in court Monday and was being held in the Linn County Jail on a $10,000 bail.
