20-year-old Hiawatha man convicted of sexually abusing 14-year-old girl

A 20-year-old Hiawatha man pleaded guilty Thursday to sexually abusing a 14-year-old who he met through Facebook in 2012.
Micheal A. Harvey, 19 at the time of the incidents, pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree sexual abuse. Harvey sexually abused the girl multiple times during the fall of 2012 and last spring in Cedar Rapids and Hiawatha. One of the incidents occurred in a bathroom at the Lindale Mall, according to court records.
Linn County Attorney Jerry Vander Sanden said Harvey met the Cedar Rapids girl through Facebook and then pursued a relationship with her.
Harvey faces 10 years in prison. His sentencing is set Feb. 7, in Linn County District Court.
