UTV driver dies in fiery Black Hawk County crash

One person is dead after a crash Monday between a car and a utility task vehicle in rural Black Hawk County, according to a report from the Iowa State Patrol.
The crash happened at 2:20 p.m.at the intersection of West Cedar Wapsie Road and North Union road near Janesville.
Andrew Eric Clark, 56, of Cedar Falls, was driving a Polaris Ranger UTV north on Union Road. He turned left onto Cedar Wapsie Road without yielding to traffic and was hit by a southbound 2013 Chrysler 200 being driven by Karl Chauncey Tompkins, 41, of Ryan.
Both vehicles ended up in the ditch. The UTV caught on fire, according to the patrol.
Clark died as a result of the crash, and Tompkins was injured.
The Iowa State Patrol responded to the crash, along with the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, MercyOne EMS, Covenant EMS, the Cedar Falls Fire Department and the Waterloo Fire Department, the report states.
