Two teens were injured Friday in a crash between a sport utility vehicle and a train at a railroad crossing in Robins, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
Remington Franks, 17, of Cedar Rapids, was driving a beige Honda Pilot east on E Main Street with Daniella Pint, 15, of Center Point, in the passenger seat. He failed to yield to crossing signals at the crossing near Front Street in Robins, a news release states.
The SUV was struck on the passenger doors by a northbound Canadian National train.
Pint was taken by ambulance to UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital with significant injuries, and Franks was taken by family to Mercy Medical Center with minor injuries, according to the news release.
The sheriff’s office did not have updates Monday on the status of the teens’ injuries. The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office and the Canadian National Railway Police Service.
