Two injured in crash on Highway 13

LINN COUNTY - Deputies responded around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a crash at the intersection of Highway 13 and Bertram Road. They arrived to find a full-size pickup truck had hit a car.

Investigators say the truck was driving south on Highway 13 when the car pulled out in front. The driver of the car, 24-year-old Catherine Jones of Cedar Rapids, failed to yield to oncoming traffic, according to a release from the Linn County Sheriff's Office.

Jones and a passenger in her car, 33-year-old Justin Bruce of Cedar Rapids, both suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash. First responders had to remove Jones from the car and she was flown to Mercy Medical Center for treatment. An ambulance took Bruce to Mercy.

Deputies say charges are pending against Jones and the crash remains under investigation.
