Stunt driver injured at Jackson County Fair

One person was injured Sunday after a vehicle stunt went awry at the Jackson County Fair, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report.
Matthew Blinks, 21, of Lisbon, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado during a stunt event and was supposed to jump the pickup truck through a camper at the Maquoketa Speedway, according to the report.
But the truck hit the camper and Blinks lost consciousness. The truck continued off the track, across Highway 62, and ran into a shed. The driver had to be extricated from the truck and airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
The report does not indicate the severity of the driver’s injuries.
