A seed truck crashed Wednesday morning in Linn County, blocking traffic on Highway 13 for about two hours.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office and several other agencies responded to the crash, on Highway 13 near Travis Road, at 8:42 a.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
The driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle, which rolled and ended up on its side. The southbound lanes on Highway 13 were fully blocked by the truck, and one northbound lane was blocked by corn and debris.
The driver and a passenger in the truck were both trapped and had to be extracted from the truck cab. The names of the driver and passenger have not been released “due to the severity of the injuries,” the release states.
Northbound traffic on Highway 13 was altered for about an hour and southbound traffic was closed in the area until 10:40 a.m., according to the release.
Agencies that responded to the crash include the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Marion Police Department, Mount Vernon Police Department, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa State Commercial Motor Vehicle, Cedar Rapids Fire Department, Area Ambulance, Lifeguard and Linn County HAZMAT.
