Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle in Fairfax

FAIRFAX — A pedestrian died Friday after being struck by a vehicle on Williams Boulevard in Fairfax.

Emergency responders were called to the area of the Casey’s General Store, 65 Williams Blvd., Fairfax, at about 9 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in traffic, according to a news release from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

The pedestrian — a male — died at the scene, the release states.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian was not injured, but did go to a hospital as a precaution.

Neither the name of the pedestrian, nor the name of the driver is being released, “pending notification of family and the continuing investigation,” according to the release.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Fairfax Fire Department and Area Ambulance responded to the scene.
