One killed in UTV crash in Allamakee County

One person died early Friday after a utility task vehicle crash in Allamakee County, according to the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened at 12:03 a.m. at the intersection of Houlihan Drive and Mohawk Road in rural Allamakee County. The UTV was traveling east on Houlihan Drive and missed a curve in the road. It entered the ditch and rolled over, authorities said.

The driver of the UTV died at the scene, and a passenger was taken by air ambulance to a La Crosse, Wis., hospital, a news release said.

The names of the driver and passenger have not been released, pending notification of family.

The Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Harpers Ferry Fire and Rescue, Waterville Ambulance and Veterans Memorial Hospital Ambulance. The crash remains under investigation, according to the release.
