One killed in single vehicle crash in rural West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY — One person died and two were injured in a single- vehicle crash early Wednesday in rural West Liberty.

The identifies of those involved had not yet been released as of Wednesday afternoon.

The three were in a 2006 Chevy pickup driving north in the 1200 block of Elder Avenue — west of West Liberty — at about 12:45 a.m. when the pickup failed to negotiate a turn and left the roadway, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

The truck rolled several times and eventually came to rest in a soybean field.

One person was partially ejected from the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two were taken by ambulance to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, according to a news release from the West Liberty Fire Department.
