One killed in Johnson County car-semi crash
CORALVILLE - A crash early Friday morning in Johnson County killed one person.
The crash happened about 1:30 a.m. Friday when a car driving northbound near milemarker 96.5 on Highway 218 near Coralville drove through the median and into the southbound lanes. The car hit a southbound semi-trailer truck head on. It then burst into flames. The driver was not able to get out and died inside the car. The semi driver was not injured.
The Iowa State Patrol blocked off the area for six hours, until 7:30 a.m. Authorities say it could take a while to identify the driver.
