One dead in semi crash in Johnson County

The driver of a semi-trailer truck died Friday along Interstate 80 near Tiffin when the semi veered from the road and caught fire, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The crash happened about 4:30 a.m. Friday when a 2022 Freightliner semi traveling west near Mile Marker 236 left the interstate and hit a tree in the ditch — and then caught fire, according to a crash report.
The name of the drive has not yet been released.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted in responding to the crash by the Tiffin and Oxford fire departments.
