One dead in head-on collision in Jones County

One person died Wednesday in a head-on crash in rural Jones County, according to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol.
Jimmy Offen, 77, of Martelle, was driving a 1999 Ford Ranger west on Highway 151 when he lost control just as he was passing Basham Lane, north of Martelle. He crossed the highway median and crashed into a 2006 Chevrolet Impala coming the other direction.
Offen was killed in the crash. The driver of the impala — Laura Davis, 69, of Cedar Rapids — was taken by ambulance to University of Iowa Health Care in Iowa City. The crash report does not indicate the severity of her injuries.
