A motorcyclist was sent to the hospital Sunday with serious injuries, including a brain bleed, after a crash in southeast Cedar Rapids, according to the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
The crash happened Sunday afternoon in the 2300 block of Mount Vernon Road SE. Police who responded to the scene around 5 p.m. found the motorcyclist suffering “serious and potentially life-threatening injuries,” a press release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department states.
A criminal complaint against Scott Petersen, who is facing charges in relation to the crash states that the last known condition of the motorcyclist was a brain bleed.
Peterson, 64, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested Monday and charged with unsafe entry onto sidewalk or roadway and knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury. He had not yet had his first appearance in court as of Monday afternoon.
Additional details about the crash and the status of the victim have not yet been released.
