MARION — A motorcyclist who was severely injured in a crash in Marion last week has died from his injuries, according to a news release from the Marion Police Department.
Aaron Gerbo, 44, of Lisbon, was taken by emergency helicopter to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Friday morning after his motorcycle collided with a 2015 Subaru WRX on Highway 100.
The driver of the Subaru, Matthew Miller, has been cited for failure to yield upon entering a through roadway, the release states. Miller, 30, of Cedar Rapids, was not injured in the crash.
Gerbo was riding a 2002 Harley-Davidson with his 11-year-old daughter when they collided with the car. The motorcycle was traveling west on Highway 100 and the Subaru had just turned east onto the highway from southbound 44th Street. Law enforcement was called to the scene at 11:02 a.m. Friday.
The girl and Gerbo were both thrown from the motorcycle. Gerbo was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to a hospital in an emergency helicopter. He died Monday as a result of his injuries.
The 11-year-old was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. She was transported to a hospital by ground ambulance. Her condition was not mentioned in Wednesday’s news release.
