Authorities have released the name of a pedestrian struck and killed on Highway 30 near Mechanicsville Tuesday night.
Brett Moravek, 38, of Marion, was walking along the south shoulder of U.S. Highway 30, west of Mechanicsville, at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to an Iowa State Patrol accident report. A westbound Ford Expedition operated by 46-year-old Jamie Rodriguez of Marion was going by at that time.
Moravek crossed the highway near the intersection of Highway 30 and Franklin Avenue for an "unknown reason" and was struck by the SUV, the report said.
The incident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
