2 die in Linn County seed truck rollover

A husband and wife whose seed truck crashed Wednesday morning near Marion have died from their injuries, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

John Kilburg, 74, was driving the seed truck on Highway 13 near Travis Road with his wife, Donelle Kilburg, 70, in the passenger seat. He lost control of the truck and it rolled, landing on its side, the sheriff’s office said.

Emergency responders were called to the scene at 8:42 a.m. The Kilburgs, of Spragueville in Jackson County, were both trapped in the cab and had to be extricated by emergency crews.

John Kilburg was pronounced dead at Mercy Medical Center and Donelle Kilburg died at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, the sheriff’s office said.

Northbound traffic on Highway 13 was altered for about an hour and southbound traffic was closed in the area until 10:40 a.m. while the truck and spilled corn were cleaned up.
