CEDAR RAPIDS — The Cedar Rapids Police Department has identified a motorcyclist killed in a crash Friday as Corey Lee, 35, of Cedar Rapids.
Lee was traveling south on First Avenue just before 9 p.m. Friday when he struck a northbound car that was making a left turn from First Avenue onto 27th Street NE, according to a news release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
Cedar Rapids police, fire and Area Ambulance responded to the scene. Lee was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead a short time later, the release states.
Lee was a Marine Corps veteran, and had worked as a software engineer at Collins Aerospace for about five years, according to his mom, Amy Lee. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and had recently been spending his free time restoring a 1994 Toyota Supra, which his mother said was his “dream car.”
“He was very, very loved,” Amy Lee said.
