72-year-old man badly hurt after being hit by car in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS — A 72-year-old man was hospitalized with serious injuries after he was hit by a car while walking Wednesday in southeast Cedar Rapids, according to police.
The crash happened at the intersection of First Avenue SE and 21st Street SE, causing traffic to be detoured around the area from about 8:30 a.m. to just before 9:30 a.m.
The identity of the 72-year-old pedestrian has not been released, and the investigation into the crash is ongoing, Cedar Rapids police posted on Facebook.
