23-year-old Cedar Rapids man airlifted to hospital after crash south of Ely

A 23-year-old Cedar Rapids man was airlifted for treatment after a single vehicle rollover south of Ely.

According to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, at 7:20 p.m Monday evening emergency vehicles were dispatched to a personal injury accident at the intersection of Ely and Hoosier Creek Roads.

Emergency responders arrived to find a vehicle driven by Caleb Jordan, 23, of Cedar Rapids in the west ditch. According to the release, investigators determined that Jordan had been driving north on Ely Road when he crossed the southbound lane of traffic and left the road into the west ditch, where his vehicle rolled and came to a rest on its side in a farm field.

Jordan was transported by LifeGuard Air Ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries, according to the release.

The accident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
