2 dead in collision on Highway 13 in Linn County

Two people died Sunday when their vehicle collided with another east of Cedar Rapids.

The crash happened at approximately 1 p.m., on Highway 13 at the intersection with Blaine’s Crossing Road, according to a news release from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

First responders found a Chevrolet Cruze and a Nissan Rogue in the median of Highway 13. The occupants of the Chevrolet Cruze were pronounced dead on scene. The driver and sole occupants of the Nissan rogue were unharmed, the release states.

The names of the people involved in the crash have not been released, pending notification of family.

The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office. Responding agencies also included the Linn County Sheriff Paramedic Rescue 57, Marion Police, Cedar Rapids Fire, West Bertram Fire and Area Ambulance.
