1 man injured in small plane crash near Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON — A man was injured when a small plane crashed Thursday afternoon in rural Linn County near Mount Vernon.
The pilot, Mark Anton, 65, of rural Mount Vernon, was taken to a hospital via ambulance, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, according to a Linn County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The crash of the single-engine plane happened in a field south of Highway 30 and east of Cedar River Road, the sheriff’s office reported.
First responders were called at 1:20 p.m.
The cause of the crash is unknown but will be investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration, the release stated.
