1 killed, 2 injured in I-80 crash near Williamsburg

A woman was killed and two passengers injured Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 near Williamsburg, according to an Iowa State Patrol accident report.

At about 1:30 p.m., 18-year-old Vianet Leon, of Washington, Mich., was driving a Chevrolet Trax eastbound near mile marker 221, when the vehicle drifted into the south ditch, struck a concrete culvert and rolled.

A 43-year-old passenger, Julisa Guerrero, also of Washington, Mich., was killed in the crash. Another passenger, 34-year-old Honorio Garcia Ruelas, was injured and taken by air ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. His residence was not listed in the report. Leon also was injured in the crash.

The report noted that all were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
