Collins Aerospace has been signed an agreement with Emirates Airline to upgrade its fleet of 101 B777 and 107 A380 aircraft with the company's latest GLU-2100 multi-mode receiver, or MMR.
Collins Aerospace, Cedar Rapids’ largest employer, made the announcement Tuesday during the second day of the Dubai Air Show, a biennial industrywide event.
An MMR helps pilots with positioning, navigating and landing aircraft, the company said in a news release on its website.
The company also said it will provide a full suite of avionics and satellite communication capabilities to Emirates’ 777X aircraft.
Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
More than 100 American companies — including Collins Aerospace’s parent, Raytheon Technologies — have been exhibiting at the air show, which will run through Thursday.
Also on Tuesday, Collins Aerospace announced it had completed acquisition of FlightAware, a digital aviation company for global flight tracking, predictive technology, analytics and decision-making tools.
FlightAware will be part of the company’s newly formed Connected Aviation Solutions business unit.
