United Way honors Eastern Iowa students for leading by example

CEDAR RAPIDS - The United Way of East Central Iowa will honor 20 area students at the annual Remembering Martin Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 19 at the DoubleTree by Hilton.
The luncheon commemorates the life and vision of Martin Luther King Jr. by recognizing student leaders who demonstrate King's characteristics through their volunteer work, school activities and non-violent behavior.
This year's luncheon also will feature Michael Hill, associate professor of English and African American studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Iowa. Hill has a doctorate from Harvard University and his recently published the article, 'Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Continued Relevance of Grace.”
