CORALVILLE - An Eastern Iowa mental and behavioral health provider announced the opening of a new satellite location in Coralville Friday.
Tanager Place, a Cedar Rapids-based mental and behavioral health provider for children, announced the new outpatient facility will be fully staffed and operational by Jan. 7.
'We are excited to continue to serve children and families in Eastern Iowa and the opening of this new center,” officials said in a news release.
The office, at 1150 Fifth St. suite 160, is Tanager Place's first physical location in Johnson County.
Joan Hackbarth, Tanager Place director of advancement, said the provider has been working with patients in the county for years, but this satellite location will offer those families better access.
Barriers such as transportation or time off from work can keep parents living in Johnson County from taking their children to appointments in Linn County.
'We just feel like our commitment is to answering the need the best we can, and we feel that Johnson County had needs we weren't able to answer in the outpatient setting due to geographical distance across the Corridor,” Hackbarth said.
The clinic will be staffed by three full-time therapists, as well as a full-time case worker who will offer intervention services in patients' homes. Individual, family and group counseling also will be available to patients and their families.
The clinic is accepting referrals now, Hackbarth said.
The satellite location will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and offers night and weekend scheduling by appointment.
