CEDAR RAPIDS — Registration is now open for Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation summer programs and camps. The department’s full summer program guide is now available online at www.CRREC.org and will be mailed to residents beginning May 13 inside the City’s Our CR magazine. The Play! guide has programs that run from June through August, pool schedules, golf information and lessons, summer camps, park information, and more.
Summer programs include activities for all ages at Old MacDonald’s Farm and Ushers Ferry Historic Village; sports; swim lessons and lifeguard certification classes; and lap lane, water exercise, pickle ball and basketball court reservations.
New programs include Historic Skills and camps at Ushers Ferry: Bread & Butter, Canning & Preserves, Pickling & Fermenting; Willow Wonderland Camp; Adventures with Tom, Huck and Becky; Wild Beauty; and Fannie Farmer Cooking School, as well as Family Nights at Ushers Ferry. New activities are ISU Extension Mini Camps, Line Dancing, 3v3 Youth Basketball League, and an Outdoor Bags Tournament.
Pool passes are not available this year. However, patrons are encouraged to purchase a punch pass. The new pass is $78 and has 20 punches — equal to five free swims. The pass may be used by an individual or a group, or transferred to another person for any age appropriate Open, Family, or Adult Swim. Purchase a pass online (CRREC.org), or at Bender Pool, Cherry Hill Aquatic Center, or Noelridge Aquatic Center when they open. Schedules and more information are available on the Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation website, www.CRREC.org.
