RAGBRAI Day 4: crossing the halfway point
AMES - The RAGBRAI route crosses Interstate 35 today symbolizing the halfway point of the week.
Day 4 checks in with 59.1 miles of riding and 1,777 feet of climb. Towns today after leaving Ames include Nevada, Colo, State Center, which is the meeting town, Melbourne, Baxter and ending in Newton.
The route heads east out of Ames before turning south for Newton about halfway through the day. Highlights of the day include passing the junction of the Lincoln Highway and Jefferson Highway in Colo, an Australian themed party in Melbourne and a Hawaiian theme in Newton.
