Neighborhoods across Cedar Rapids came together Tuesday night in an effort to get to know each other and local law enforcement, all a part of National Night Out.
Neighbors in Wellington Heights held a picnic. Cedar Rapids police and Fire personnel made a stop at each gathering.
Wellington Heights Neighborhood Association President Terry Bilsland said he has been holding the picnic for 6 years and wishes more neighborhoods would come together like his. ”I think these things are important. I'd like to see more people in the community have them. I noticed in the paper today that there were very few people that do them in the whole city and it's important to get out and know your neighbors.“
This is the 11th year Cedar Rapids has participated in National Night Out.
