Marion YMCA hosts Healthy Kids Day, Marion Showcase on Saturday
Apr. 25, 2022 6:00 am
MARION — Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2022, Healthy Kids Day is the YMCA’s national initiative to improve health and well-being for kids and families. It teaches healthy habits for kids and families, encourages active play and inspires a lifetime love of physical activity.
This year, the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day will be held in conjunction with Marion’s City Showcase on Saturday. From 9 a.m. to noon, there will be dozens of free, hands-on activities for the entire family to enjoy at the Marion YMCA & Community Rec Center, 3740 Irish Dr.
In addition to learning about the five pillars of healthy living, kids will have a chance to get up close to various city vehicles, watch a K-9 demonstration and win prizes. There also will be games and story time for younger visitors, as well as fitness demonstrations and giveaways. The first 100 attendees will have the opportunity to take home a three-gallon tree.
City staff will be on hand to visit and answer questions, and new Marion City Manager Ryan Waller and his family will greet community members. For those who haven’t had a chance to check out the new YMCA facility, this is the perfect opportunity to visit.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food donation to support the Churches of Marion Food Pantry (not required for entry).
