Feb. 23, 2022 6:00 am
The Marion Civil Rights Commission (MCRC) currently is accepting applications for the Marion Low & Moderate Income Housing Assistance Grant, to be awarded this year. The Marion City Council has approved up to $20,000 to be used in this grant program.
The grant will help nonprofits, charitable organizations or other entities interested in assisting low- and moderate- income individuals with programs that address housing instability in the community.
The 2021 recipients of program funds included Willis Dady Homeless Services, Marion Cares and Waypoint.
“The events of recent years have put an added strain on organizations that help those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless,” said Angelica Vannatta, chair of the commission. “The Marion Civil Rights Commission is proud to provide this grant opportunity for organizations who work to serve Marion residents and provide programs that address housing instability.”
The application period will remain open through March 15. The materials and application form are available via www.cityofmarion.org.
The target date for awarding the funds is May. The commission will make funding recommendations, based on a defined set of criteria, to provide maximum assistance to as many proposals as possible.
