Learn about and help tag monarch butterflies Saturdays in September at Hurstville center in Jackson County
Sep. 1, 2021 7:00 am
MAQUOKETA — Join Jackson County Conservation naturalists in learning about the monarch butterfly, and then helping with monarch tagging, every Saturday in September at 1 p.m. at the Hurstville Interpretive Center.
The monarch butterfly lives only eight months, migrates more than 2,000 miles, and spends the winter in Mexico. After a short presentation about monarchs, participants will use nets and head out on the prairie to catch and tag this year’s migrants.
This program is free and all ages are welcome. For more information, contact Jackson County Conservation at (563) 652-3783 or online at JacksonCCB.com. The Hurstville Interpretive Center is located one mile north of Maquoketa on Highway 61.
