Is your porch the most patriotic? Show the Freedom Festival

CEDAR RAPIDS — Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival organizers have announced the first-ever Patriotic Porch Contest. In partnership with Skogman Realty, the community is invited to decorate their porch, yard, or business storefront for a chance at cash prizes.

“This last year during the pandemic we noticed how many more families were decorating their homes for the different holidays with inflatables and lights! So, it’s a no brainer for us to offer an opportunity to decorate once again in celebration of community and a sense of patriotism this Fourth of July!”, said Executive Director, Karol Shepherd.

It’s free to register and the deadline is June 27. Cash prizes include a $500 grand prize, $250 for best use of the “Red, White, & Blue” Theme, and $250 judge’s choice award. Submit your name, address, and photo of your decorated location to info@freedomfestival.com. Participants will be provided a yard sign to display.

The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival returns June 14 to July 4 and will follow safety guidelines and recommendations of Linn County Public Health and the City of Cedar Rapids.
