Iowa City announces pool, splash pad end-of-season schedule
Aug. 12, 2021 7:00 am
The Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department announces the schedule marking the final days of the season for splash pads and the outdoor City Park Pool.
The City's splash pads traditionally are open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The last day of operation for the splash pads this summer will be Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6.
Patrons also can take their last dip at City Park Pool from 6:15 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Labor Day. The monthly schedules leading up to the seasonal closure can be found online at icgov.org/Pools.
Season-ending Dog Paddle fundraiser
The last public event for the season at City Park Pool will be the annual Dog Paddle on Sunday, Sept. 12. The cost is $10 for those who register their furry friends online before Sept. 6. Participants can register online at icgov.org/ActivityRegistration. For those who prefer to wait, entry is $15 at the door. Two time slots are available, from noon to 2 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m. Dogs must have proof of current rabies vaccination. All proceeds benefit the animals at the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center.
Indoor aquatic facilities include Mercer Park Aquatic Center pool, and the pool at Robert A. Lee Community Recreation Center, which is expected to reopen in late August.
