Families Helping Families of Iowa collecting toys for foster children

CEDAR RAPIDS — Families Helping Families of Iowa (FHF) currently is collecting toys and coordinating volunteers for its annual Winter Wonderland Holiday Celebration.

Each December, FHF hosts a holiday party for more than 1,000 members of the foster care community. This festive event includes gifts, food, crafts, Santa Claus, a visit to Santa's Workshop and more.

They are currently seeking volunteers to help on the day of the event and need help collecting brand-new toys and gift cards. If you would like to volunteer, please call (319) 294-9706 or email office@fhfia.org.

If you would like to purchase toys or gift cards for the event, a suggested value of $25 is appreciated. A list of gift ideas can be found on FHF’s website at www.fhfia.org. Donations will be collected through Dec. 3 and can be delivered to the FHF office at 6000 Seventh St. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404.

Financial donations to help purchase gifts also are welcome. Donations can be made online at www.fhfia.org. Please select 2021 Holiday Toy Drive on the donation form.

The Winter Wonderland Holiday Celebration takes place on Saturday, Dec. 11, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Hawkeye Downs Expo Center. The event is free for children in foster care, those adopted from foster care and other children living in the foster household. Preregistration is required. Foster parents and caregivers can register their families at www.fhfia.org.

Families Helping Families of Iowa is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization designed to help and support children in foster care. Our vision is to create positive opportunities, relationships, and better overall health for youth in our state who have been removed from their home.
